Meet Jonty Deynem: Founder and Director of Wentworth Safety

Hello, I'm Jonty Deynem, the driving force behind Wentworth Safety—a health and safety consultancy born from my passion for creating safer workplaces across diverse industries. My journey in this field is rooted in hands-on experience, adaptability, and a commitment to turning challenges into opportunities for growth.

My Path
Early in my career, I honed my skills in operational management, leading teams in high-energy environments and spearheading the launch of multiple new ventures for investors. This involved designing innovative business models, implementing systems, and ensuring successful operations from the ground up—experiences that strengthened my leadership, risk management, and ability to foster positive team cultures.
Building on this foundation, I transitioned into construction as a Site Manager at Midland Masonry, where I coordinated safety on multiple sites. This "muddy boots" immersion exposed me to on-site hazards, from conducting inductions and toolbox talks to managing subcontractors and investigating incidents. It ignited my deeper focus on occupational health and safety, leading me to pursue advanced qualifications such as my NCRQ Level 6 in Applied Health and Safety and NVQ Level 6 in Occupational Health and Safety Practice, along with certifications such as SMSTS, and a CSCS Black Card and more.​
From there, I advanced to consulting at MBO Safety Services, supporting a wide range of sectors—from construction and renewables to retail, schools, and metal recycling. I handled comprehensive tasks, including audits, risk assessments, policy development, fire safety plans, and regulatory compliance.
In 2023, I founded Wentworth Safety.

A Recent Project
An example of my works; on a full time contract I acted a Health and Safety Manager for an Umbrella group made up of 5 different companies including a large energy company, installation, scaffolding, and tech development. Here, I built a full safety management system from scratch, including policies, audits, training programs, and progress toward ISO 45001 certification.
